Ingredients:
- 4-5 blood oranges
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions:
Wash the blood oranges thoroughly and cut them into thin slices, removing any seeds
In a saucepan, combine the sliced blood oranges, honey, fresh lemon juice, and water
Add the cinnamon stick, grated fresh ginger, and a pinch of sea salt to the mixture
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil
Then, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally
As the mixture thickens and the oranges become soft, remove the cinnamon stick
Once the marmalade reaches your desired consistency it will continue to thicken as it cools, remove it from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes
Transfer the blood orange marmalade to a sterilized glass jar and let it cool completely before sealing
Store the Paleo blood orange marmalade in the refrigerator
It will keep for several weeks
Enjoy your homemade Paleo-friendly blood orange marmalade as a spread or topping
